McLennon Pen Co. Gallery Relocates to Larger Space in West Austin—Announces Inaugural Artist Roster
New Location: 1114 W 5th St, Suite 202, Austin, TX
Opening Reception: June 5, 6–9 PM
Austin, TX — McLennon Pen Co. Gallery is proud to announce its move to a new, expanded home at 1114 W 5th St, Suite 202, at the gateway to Clarksville and Old West Austin. The 2,300-square-foot space marks a major new chapter for the gallery, which first opened two years ago in a house gallery in East Austin. This westward move signals a step toward permanence and continued growth, while remaining rooted in Austin’s evolving cultural landscape.
The new commercial location, with increased street visibility, allows the gallery to maintain open hours: Tuesday through Friday from 11 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday & Sunday from 12 to 4 PM. Free parking is available behind the gallery, making it easier for visitors to drop in for exhibitions and opening receptions.
The inaugural exhibition titled Tenfold will open to the public on Thursday, June 5, from 6–9 PM, debuting McLennon Pen Co.'s first official artist roster including artists based in Austin, New York, Los Angeles, and Kansas City. The show will feature new work by ten artists now officially represented by the gallery:
Rosie Clements, Andy Coolquitt, Lindsey Lascaux, Peter McRury, Patrick Quinn, Slater Reid Sousley, Audrey Rodriguez, Ben Siekierski, Ashley Swarts, and Alexandra Valenti.
“This moment of moving into a full-fledged gallery space seemed like the perfect time to solidify some of the relationships with artists that have evolved naturally over the last two years of putting on shows together,” says founder and director Jill McLennon. “Representation to me means that the gallery and artist are committed to working together to grow the artist’s career in a deeper and long-term way. These ten artists are essentially the artists that have begun to shape the identity of the gallery. They are the thinkers and makers I’m most excited and equipped to support and see evolve in the next decade.”
The gallery facade features a custom neon sign by Evan Voyles of Neon Jungle, inspired by the vintage logo and signage of McLennon’s grandfather’s pen shop—opened in 1934 on State Street in Chicago—after which the gallery is named. Inside, a reception desk designed by Gianni Yarto of Mean Boy LLC nods to the building’s mid-century modern architecture as patrons enter the gallery.
Additional exhibition and programming details will be announced in the coming weeks.
