McLennon Pen Co. Gallery is thrilled to announce a project space showcasing new works by Rosie Clements.
Working across photography, sculpture, and print, Clements’ work is fundamentally image-based. She employs innovative techniques to transform digital photographs into physical objects, which ultimately occupy a space between the virtual and the material. Using a technique called UV printing, she transfers her images onto a variety of materials, including bubble wrap. This unique material combination distorts and abstracts the original photographs, echoing the pixels that comprise digital pictures.
Clements was included in Lenscratch’s 26 to Watch in 2023 and Glasstire’s Best of 2022 as a photographer to watch. She has exhibited her work across the country and has been featured on a variety of platforms for visual culture both digitally and in print, including It's Nice That and Southwest Contemporary. She received a B.S. in photography from Northern Arizona University. Clements is one of The University of Texas at Austin’s recent promising MFA graduates in Studio Art. Her work is on view until May 11 at the university in the Visual Arts Center in the exhibition All Else: 2024 Studio Art MFA Thesis Exhibition.
