AUSTIN, TX — McLennon Pen Co. Gallery is pleased to announce a special exhibition in collaboration with New York–based artist textiles company Massif Central, presenting limited-edition silk and silk-blend scarves by twenty-five internationally acclaimed artists, including Katherine Bradford, Ann Craven, Sayre Gomez, Rashid Johnson, KAWS, Josh Smith, Jonas Wood (full list below).

The exhibition will transform the gallery into a vibrant installation, with the scarves suspended from the ceiling — echoing their recent presentation at the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, Georgia. The show celebrates the intersection of contemporary art and fashion, offering an opportunity to experience and collect works by some of the most influential visual artists working today.

An opening reception and holiday party will take place on Thursday, November 20, with the exhibition on view through December 30, 2025. Scarves will be available for purchase, with complimentary gift wrapping offered throughout the run of the show.

“I found it exciting that with Massif Central’s scarves, you can take home a limited-edition piece by artists who are really shaping the contemporary art landscape today,” says Jill McLennon, founder of McLennon Pen Co. “Each scarf carries its own sense of craftsmanship — with editioned labels, and some housed in beautifully designed boxes.”

Founded by artist Tessa Perutz, Massif Central merges contemporary art, fashion, and design through artist collaborations that reinterpret the traditional silk scarf. Perutz’s curatorial approach welcomes an eclectic mix of established and emerging artists.

“It’s a great honor working with such a wide range of highly talented artists,” says Perutz, “with the goal to translate each artist’s unique visual language into a wearable art object, experimenting together to capture the depth of their vision and bring it alive into a truly dynamic silk or silk-blend artist’s multiple."

Each scarf is hand-finished and produced in limited editions ranging from 50 to 500. The designs are fabricated in Italy using traditional techniques and are finished by hand, making each piece a collectible work of art that can be hung, framed, or worn to adorn the body.

Scarves will be available for purchase in the gallery — a perfect opportunity for collectors and art lovers to acquire or gift a limited-edition artwork for the holidays.

About McLennon Pen Co.:

Founded by Jill McLennon in March 2023, McLennon Pen Co. is dedicated to showcasing the work of both emerging and internationally recognized artists. The gallery presents exhibitions that are poetic, energetic, and reflective of the times, while grounding contemporary practice within historical context.

In June 2025, McLennon Pen Co. expanded from its original East Austin bungalow into a 2,300-square-foot gallery space at 1114 W. 5th Street, at the gateway to Clarksville and Old West Austin.

Before founding the gallery, McLennon spent thirteen years in New York City working with leading galleries and auction houses, helping to place works in significant private and public collections and supporting the careers of many of today’s foremost artists. The gallery’s name honors McLennon’s grandfather, whose luxury pen shop opened in downtown Chicago in 1934.

About Massif Central:

Founded in 2013, Massif Central is a New York–based company producing silk and silk-blend scarves designed by contemporary artists. Named after the region in France where the tradition of French silk scarf-making originated, the company reinterprets this heritage through a distinctly modern lens.

Massif Central collaborates with a diverse range of artists—including Joshua Abelow, Trudy Benson, Ellen Berkenblit, Katherine Bradford, Holly Coulis, Ann Craven, Julia Dault, Ted Gahl, Sayre Gomez, Henry Gunderson, Peter Halley, Rashid Johnson, KAWS, Jonathan Lasker, Chris Lux, Chris Martin, Eddie Martinez, Keegan McHargue, William J. O’Brien, Tal R, Ed Ruscha, David Shrigley, Josh Smith, Pablo Tomek, and Jonas Wood—to produce limited-edition silk artworks that blur the boundaries between art, design, and fashion.

Each edition is hand-numbered and produced in runs of 50, 100, 150, or 500. Their ongoing mission: to merge the worlds of contemporary art and timeless craftsmanship into wearable masterpieces.
